It may take 3 or 4 years to flower, set seed and then die. But don't worry, they will generally self-seed! Great pollinator plant too. Angelica archangelica is a BIENNIAL growing to 1.5 m (5ft) by 0.8 m (2ft 7in).It is in flower from July to August, and the seeds ripen from August to September. The species is hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs) and is pollinated by Insects. The plant is self-fertile.It is noted for attracting wildlife.Suitable for: light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils. Suitable pH: mildly acid, neutral and basic (mildly alkaline) soils and can grow in very acid soils.It can grow in semi-shade (light woodland) or no shade. It prefers moist soil.
