The Perennial California Poppy is the low-growing coastal form of the California Poppy and are native to the Northwest region. Rather than the more common orange color, the Perennial California Poppy is predominantly yellow and sometimes is slightly orange in the center. The foliage has a blue-gray hue to it. They prefer full sun and can grow where the water supply is limited. They don’t abide transplanting very well and typically do better if started outdoors. These California Poppies are the perennial variety, but they are frost sensitive and will not survive in colder climates. They need well-drained soils to grow in. These flowers can be fall planted in zones 7-10.
