A lovely annual in the phlox family that displays a floral color not often seen in nature. Peachy-salmon, tubular flowers appear in domed clusters atop erect stems densely dressed in rich-green, lance-shaped leaves. Sometimes single stalked, sometimes branched. Pinching the central leader may increase branching. Family: Polemoniaceae Per/Ann: Annual Sun/Shade: Sun Zones: 4a to 9b Height: up to 24 inches. Bloom time: mid-summer Habitat: Open sites, moist and dry meadows, hillsides Stratification: very short Planting depth: 1/8" to 1/4" Seeding rate:          Broadcasting: approx 30-40 seeds/sq ft          Small pots/Spots in situ: 5-7 seeds per pot/spot Can be fall or spring sown. Cool temps enhance germination so if spring sowing, early spring is best. Fall sown seed may not germinate until temperatures warm in the spring. Pinching central leader encourages bushiness Portland Plant List (Backyard Habitat Certification): Yes
