Plant Description: This low growing evergreen perennial forms a compacted mound of densely tufted, dark-green grass like leaves 1.5-6 inches long. Pink to lavender flowers are clustered together in round groups which are held above the leaves by a leafless stalk. Flowers are pink to light purple and bloom in the spring.  Height: 6-10 in Width:  8-12 in Sun Needs: Full sun to partial shade Soil Needs: Dry, infertile soil with plenty of drainage (too much moisture can cause this plant to rot) Bloom Time: April-May Landscape Use and Ecological Function: This native plant is found along the coast on bluffs and low-elevation mountains in Washington, Oregon, California and Canada.  It is occasionally found inland along rivers and meadows. Good for the rock garden, xeriscapes, or used as a ground cover in small spaces.
