Our Gear Band Ring is fabricated with a weighty gage of Sterling, 8mm in width, with a central element created slightly raised from the ring shank and carved with notches to create my own Sterling verision of the universal industrial symbol, the gear. "In my senior years studying metalsmithing at Parsons School of Design, I explored the symbolism found in my environs that spoke to me, and revealed more than their original intended design. The gears and manhole covers embedded in the streets of Brooklyn called to me with an industriousness of another time. Combining my exploration of mythologies of other cultures and adornment, I came to see these as treasures and sought to recreate them in softer non-industrial metals, Sterling and Gold.
