Domaine des Ardoisieres Cuvee Silice Rouge
In the shadow of Mont Blanc sits the small estate of Domaine des Ardoisieres, one of the most exciting producers of Savoie and the world. Champagne native Brice Omont handles winemaking, and the domaine's 17 hectares are planted on steep, rocky slopes. Quite natural and minimal interventionist when it comes to winemaking, the estate is certified organic, fermented with native yeasts, and bottled with light filtration and minimal sulfur. Their Cuvee Silice Rouge is 100% Mondeuse, the most important native red grape of Savoie. Beautifully pure and light on its feet, this will appeal to lovers of Gamay, Pinot Noir, and esoteric Italian reds like Pelaveraga and Ruche. Fresh and zippy, it offers up enticing notes of cranberry, pomegranate, white pepper, and just the right amount of funky earth and minerality.
