Domaine Francis Blanchet Pouilly-Fumé 'Vieilles Vignes'

Francis Blanchet runs this 8th-generation estate with passion and vigor. The family owns some very old plantings of Sauvignon Blanc, and the best "stuff" goes into their Vieilles Vignes (old vines). Some of the vines are over 80 years-old, and when you combine those old, low-yielding vines with the rocky, flinty terroir of Pouilly-Fumé, you have the makings of greatness. Greatness is a term that doesn't fully embody this wine. Racy, precise, linear, and about as mineralic as white wine gets, this is for lovers of classic Loire Valley whites. Cascading aromas and flavors of pear, green apple, kumquat, and smoky mineral are all on display in this soulful and compelling white. It should cost A LOT more!
