If you do a little research, you'll see that the wines of Domaine Gitton are oft-compared to those of Dagueneau. There are certainly parallels, as the Gittons, like Dagueneau, are champions of Sauvignon Blanc planted on silex (shale) soils. They also own plots planted on the more classic limestone soils of Sancerre, and their Les Montachins is produced from old vines planted on Portlandian limestone. It showcases classic Sancerre verve and style. Bone dry, crisp, and stony, it offers up enticing notes of taut citrus, peach, lime zest, and wet rock.
