J. Hofstatter Pinot Grigio
Josef Hofstätter founded his eponymous winery in 1907, in the village of Tramin in Alto-Adige. After his death in 1942, Josef's wife ran the estate alongside Konrad Oberhofer, who took over once she retired. It was Konrad who continued the practice of estate-bottling while also pioneering single vineyard wines and the estate's emphasis on origin and terroir of site and varietal. Today, J. Hofstätter is Alto-Adige's leading family-owned producer with vineyards on both sides of the Adige River making some of Trentino-Alto Adige's top wines with an emphasis on where the wine comes from. A classic and very expressive Pinot Grigio, bright straw yellow in color with an attractive aroma of citrus fruits, peach, honeydew melon and especially pear. Medium rich, fruity, well-structured and direct on the palate with orchard fruit flavors and tangy, fruity acidity on the finish.
