Description We discovered Elaine Kaufman Feiner when we fell in love with this painting at an auction.  It is the first of her Hudson River (Rain) series from the mid sixties and a nice example of color field painting. We can definitely feel the sixties vibe with those bright colors. If you have the spot for it — and are not afraid of bold color — this is a great painting for you. But that said, there is also great subtleness in the painting. If you look closely, she carefully layered the paint, topping it off with dots of black on top of the brown. And those lighter pink squares are built up from layers and layers of paint. We don’t know how she pulled that off. Brilliant.
