JOURNEY 3 - Original Topographical Stitched Watercolor Map + Frame. Beautifully float-framed (no mat) in a minimal white square frame that measures 20” x 20” x 2” deep. This is an Abstract Map built upon a real place - Afton Mountain in Virginia. A confluence of routes through and along the Appalachian/Blue Ridge mountains between Charlottesville and Waynesboro Virginia inspired this Map. At Rockfish Gap, the old highway, new highway, Appalachian Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway/Shenandoah Drive, and the Blue Ridge Tunnel (THROUGH the mountain!) intersect. This Map is one of five Journey Maps which are part of a larger series that mix real and imagined landscapes in an inquiry of her personal journey through a creative and academic life, motherhood and family life, and, in the moment, navigating the untangling and confusion of divorce.
