Diatomite Drying Block

This chocolate bar shaped product is a unique absorbent material from Kanazawa. Made of natural diatomite, it absorbs moisture in containers of salt, sugar, herbs and spices to keep them dry. Nice feel of breaking a chocolate-like bar into pieces. The long-established plastering company Isurugi in Kanazawa has created the new brand Soil in 2004. Their products are all made of domestic natural diatomite, carefully crafted with traditional plastering techniques, such as mixing, moulding, drying and refining. Their superior techniques can be seen at historical landmarks including Osaka Castle and the restored Kanazawa Castle.
