You In My Sun
This collection of nine pieces is a symbolic completion, honoring balance and timelessness as it mirrors the symbolism of the number nine. In Chinese, the number nine is pronounced “jiu,” which also means “long-lasting.” As the highest single digit, it represents the highest level of mortal happiness, longevity, and good luck. One digit away from the representation of the higher energy, this collection of nine expressive works uses red hues to convey the outpouring of emotion and expressions before a part of someone dies in order for them to be born anew. In “You in My Sun,” AOTH creates elegant tension between murky edges and the clarity of a pale blue sky. Vibrant winds of colors dance across the canvas, as if giving life to the murky waters and clarity after the beauty of chaos. “This is you being you,” the work seems to say as if to reassure the viewer to not be tamed and to remain honest and true to themself so others can realize the clarity and honesty of their realness.
