Widely cultivated and harvested in Syria and Turkey, the Aleppo Pepper is a Middle Eastern and Mediterranean staple used to add a complex bright, earthy, fruity, slightly tart flavor with a moderate heat to foods of all types. Ground into a deep burgundy colored coarse powder with a medium heat level of 10,000 Scoville units (about one third to one half that of Cayenne) but with an incredible amount of flavor that truly amps up any dish.
