Black Spruce
Each bundle contains 25 seedlings. Scientific Name: Picea mariana Mature Height: 30-40 feet, occasionally up to 60 feet (often stunted) Mature Spread: 20-30 feet Hardiness: Zones 2-6 Soil: Grows on a wide range of sites from wet lowlands to drier upland. Most common on poorly drained, nutrient-poor sites. Will tolerate occasional drought. Light: Grows best in full sun Growth Rate: Slow Additional Information: Also known as Swamp Spruce or Bog Spruce. Shallow root system benefits from 3-4" of organic mulch. Twigs, leaves and seeds are important wildlife food and branches provide nesting sites for birds. Has smallest cones of all spruces.
