Measure with the Standard ScaleFrom one corner of your workpiece, measure and mark equal distances along two adjacent edges—these will be points “a” and “b.” 2. Measure the DiagonalMeasure the diagonal distance between points “a” and “b” using the hypotenuse scale on the tape measure blade. 3. Check for AccuracyIf the diagonal measurement on the hypotenuse scale matches the distance from the corner to points “a” or “b,” your piece is square.
