It will prolong the lifespan of your Chasen (matcha whisk).  The bamboo prongs of the matcha whisk are delicate and, after repeated use, they can begin to change shape. While the exact, original shape of the whisk is not meant to hold after use (the curve naturally adjusts and the curl at the ends releases), the whisk holder supports the structure and maintains the shape of the whisk strands.
