Jian Shui 21: The Double Dragon Bridge - Extraordinary Detail in the Fine Collectors Piece
This is an extraordinary piece of work. The all white clay pot has been decorated with a replica of the Double Dragon Bridge that is an historical landmark in Jian Shui and is still hailed as a masterpiece of traditional Chinese bridge-making as it incorporates all the classic components of an ancient Chinese bridge construction. The Double-Dragon Bridge, also called the Seventeen-Archway Bridge, is a large stone bridge with three towers and seventeen supporting arches. It was built at the convergence of the branches of the Lujiang River and Tachong Rivers during the Qing Dynasty. Since the two rivers look like two dragons, the bridge was named the Double-Dragon Bridge. The carving and inlaid black clay that depicts the bridge is the most intricate I have seen in terms of fine lines and detail. It is superb.
