Originally manufactured from 1933 to 1942, the D-45 is Martin's top-of-the-line model. It features their most popular body size with their highest level of cosmetic appointments. The D-45 starts with Martin's celebrated dreadnought body. Introduced in 1933, the Martin dreadnought is easily the most influential and copied acoustic guitar design. In the '30s, players needed an instrument that produced more volume and could compete with louder banjos, fiddles, and mandolins.
