2013 Deering Sierra 5-String Mahogany Banjo
For almost 30 years, the Sierra has been the flagship of Deering's upper-line banjos. Crafted with unparalleled expertise and passion, the Sierra embodies the essence of the traditional banjo sound while delivering modern playability and optimizing tone wherever possible. At its core, the Sierra relies on a 3-ply violin-grade Maple rim, Deering's -06- tone ring, a one piece zinc flange, a notched tension hoop, and a heavy-duty Deering tailpiece. This is the same setup you'll see on fancy, high-dollar Deering models, but with its satin finish and modest appearance, the Sierra comes in at a great price. This Sierra 5-String features a Mahogany resonator, which gives it a richer, woodier sound than the brighter sounds you get from a Maple resonator.
