The Tallit: Do Justly, Love Mercy — Micah 6:8 From The Artist Sometimes we need a tangible reminder to help us stop, rethink, and recalibrate what’s most important, and to do those things that are wise and good, not only for ourselves but for others. How does this relate to a Jewish prayer shawl called the Tallit? You’ve probably seen a modern Tallit in a movie. It is white linen or silk, with blue stripes, fringes, and tied tassels on the four corners. Worn in a synagogue, its origin is in the Torah: “...You shall make tassels on the hem of your garments throughout your generations, and put a blue cord in the tassels of each corner.  It shall be a tassel for you to look at and remember all the commands of the Lord, so as to do them and not follow after your own heart and after your own eyes…” (Numbers 15:38-41).
