Reckoning with the Unconscious #7
Watercolor on 9" x 12" coldpress paperOriginal (one-of-a-kind) There is a kind of knowing that arrives before understanding. Not through sight or intellect, but through something quieter. A tuning in to what is already speaking beneath thought. At Uxmal, that feeling is not abstract. It is architectural. The Temple of the Magician was not built to impress. It was built to align, with Venus, with cycles of time, with forces the Maya understood as living participants in human experience. The ancient Maya did not separate the inner world from the outer. Stars were consulted, not just observed. The serpent was a living passage between dimensions, and the earth itself was in conversation with everything moving through it. The Milky Way was not backdrop. It was a road. A crossing. This painting draws from that cosmology, the belief that guidance arrives quietly, that what surrounds us is not empty but alive, and that crossing into the unknown is less an act of will than an act of trust.
