Reckoning with the Unconscious #9
Watercolor on 9" x 12" coldpress paperOriginal (one-of-a-kind) There is a place we all know. The pause after letting go and before becoming. Where effort softens and something deeper takes over. The Maya understood cenotes as exactly that kind of place. Not simply water, but doorways. Sacred thresholds where the visible world gave way to the unseen, where the surface offered no answers, only an invitation inward. This painting lives in that same space, between what is known and what waits beneath it. Spirit moves in both directions. Light does not only shine from above. It does not stop at the surface. It goes where we are afraid to follow. The ancient ones did not fear that descent. They honored it, understood it as passage rather than loss. What we call surrender is often the truest form of trust. This painting is an invitation to remember that depth is not something to fear. That somewhere within you, the water is still cool and waiting. And that you already know the way inward. C
