Sagas - Wholesale

A complex blend of grizzly-bear brown deepened with charcoal gray, this color is an homage to Iceland’s rich literary tradition! The sagas of Iceland are a body of medieval Icelandic literature based around historical events and persons of the ninth through eleventh centuries. They’re more concerned with the lives of common folk than the gods, like you might be used to from the Norse sagas! More generally speaking, the saga is a broader literary tradition in Iceland and elsewhere in Scandinavia that shares some commonalities with epic poetry, but are composed in prose. The sagas remain a prominent part of Icelandic culture today, but if medieval literature isn’t your thing, books of all kinds are special in Iceland!  You may have heard of the Jolabokaflod, or “Christmas book flood,” which is the tradition of gifting books to each other on Christmas Eve before settling in for a cozy evening of enjoying new stories.
