ELDERBERRY COLLECTION
Sambucus nigra canadensis The American elderberry is a treasured native of central and eastern US. This easy-to-grow shrub is strikingly ornamental and offers heavy harvests of delicious berries with nearly endless uses. Our paired collection of 2 compact, prolific varieties, Bob Gordon and York, are ideal for cross-pollinating. Please note: all parts of the plant have been used for centuries for medicinal purposes, but the leaves, stems, roots, and seeds are considered poisonous. We recommend eating only cooked berries. Elderberry plants are 1 ½ years old and ship starting in May in 3 ½ inch pots. Order early for best availability. Detailed planting information and growing instructions are included with each order, and may be obtained below. Available only within the contiguous US.
