The steep slopes of Chiroubles are home to the highest vineyards of the ten crus, and Romuald’s old vines sit at around four hundred metres above sea level over granite and quartz. Light, bright and perfumed with red berries and minerals, a salty finish offers refreshment in spades. Served chilled, this is the ideal wine for a simple casse-croûte, whether a good hunk of cheese or some charcuterie. Romuald Valot Originally from Burgundy, Romauld Valot has spent the last decade forging a new path in the remote hills of the Beaujolais. Born into a family of vignerons, he spent decades working for classic producers in Burgundy and was left disenchanted by the number of chemicals used in the vineyards and the tricks being played in the cellar.
