Maamoul is a delicious shortcrust pastry made from white flour and semolina, and flavored with orange blossom water or rose water. It is filled by hand with a sweet mixture of dates, walnuts or pistachios, then delicately pressed in engraved wooden molds giving them their unique shape. After baking, the maamouls are sprinkled with icing sugar.
