The Valley

Designer notes and further background. The initial intent of this design was to put the "valley of the shadow of death" David speaks of below into a visualization.  What we didn't know at the time we were developing the design was that the "valley" was indeed literal - it actual exists!  The Kidron Valley (Valley of the Shadow of Death) is located outside Jerusalem’s eastern wall and is full of both ancient and modern burial sites. Its location puts it in shadow for most of the day. This valley links up to the south with the Hinnom Valley where infants were often sacrificed to Moloch. Jesus actually walked through this valley after being arrested at the garden of Gethsemane.
