Tamarind Jam: It's Unique!

What in the world is a tamarind? That is a great question that you ask. If you don't know, I don't blame you. It is the only fruit in its genus, and so there really aren't any fruit even like it. I'll try to describe it though. Imagine a peanut, but maybe slightly more leathery. Now open up the peanut, and inside there are seeds, but filling the husk and hiding the seeds is a soft somewhat gooey fruity blob that smells super sweet. Despite their unique appearance, they taste really good and are used a lot in Mexican candies, and they turn into excellent jam.
