Sugar Snap snap pea bears a quicker, heavier crop and has a tall vine plant habit. The edible pods are about 3” long, sweet and crisp. Easy to grow, peas love cold weather, so plant as soon as the soil can be worked in the spring. Direct-sow 1 to 2 inches apart and 1 to 1½ inches deep. Peas are also ideal as a fall crop started in late summer. So sow seeds in early to late spring after last frost or sow seeds in fall 8-10 weeks before first frost date. To conserve space and simplify harvesting, sow in double rows with a trellis between rows. Keep soil moist. Heavy watering during flowering can interfere with pollination. Train to climb a vertical support at least 6' tall. Fertilize as needed with a balanced fertilizer. Too much nitrogen will produce lush foliage and result in poor flowering and fruiting. Harvest when pods barely begin to swell. Sugar Snap is a legume, so it will help fix nitrogen in the soil. Seeds per pack: 10/20/40/80/100 Days to maturity: 60-65 Days Life Cycle: Annual Planting season: Spring. Fall Sun Requirement: Full Sun
