Gates of the Valley
Story Behind the Image This had been an exciting week for me. After a nearly 17-year hiatus, The Ansel Adams Gallery in Yosemite restarted their tradition of offering photographic workshops. I had just finished leading the first workshop of this new venture, when a storm moved in. I grabbed my gear and drove around the Valley to see what I could find. I pulled over at a favorite spot, Gates of the Valley, where the Merced River leads into views of El Capitan and Cathedral Rocks. Everything fell into place, and I was blessed with this wonderful image.
