Art Nouveau Austrian Silver Parasol Umbrella Handle Set, Dress Cane Handle
Antique Austrian .900 silver umbrella parasol handle or dress cane handle. Featuring elegant Art Nouveau curved form with stylized feather or leaf motif . Together with eight silver spoke tips. Measures 3 3/4" length x 2" height, the base with a 9/16" diameter opening. In overall good antique condition with general wear commensurate with age and use. Housed in the original presentation box. Box measures 5 1/4″ x 3 1/4″ x 1 3/8" tall. Hallmarked with the Austrian Diana's head mark in use from 1872-1922 to indicate a silver content of .900/1000 silver. Also bearing import marks of the French weevil. Silversmith mark for Scheid Georg Adam - Vienna (Austria) Scheid completed a commercial apprenticeship until 1853 and subsequently worked in Pforzheim and Stuttgart.
