Wild Blackberry Honey
Appalachia is covered in wild blackberry bushes. While many prize them for their berries, at ABC, we look forward to the unique and rare opportunity for our bees to feast on blackberry flower nectar. Typically, blackberry flowers' nectar doesn't last long. We got lucky in this summer with the right combination of good weather and dearth of other flowers to forage to produce our distinctive and delicious Wild Blackberry Honey. ABC partners’ careful beekeeping is required to avoid diluting the wild blackberry honey with other nectars growing before and after the blackberry bushes blossoms. The fragrant honey produced from this process is a medium dark amber color. Our beekeepers describe the flavor as smooth with a light but definite berry flavor finish. All of our delicious raw honey is produced by more than 100 local beekeepers in the forested mountains of Appalachia.
