Lead with a Blast

In “Lead with a Blast,” I focused primarily on Cyclops’s upper torso and face. I wanted to capture that brief moment right after he fires his optic blast. You can see the residual energy around his visor, a clear indication of the force he just unleashed.When I painted Scott’s face, I aimed to convey a range of emotions. Behind his visor, there’s a depth of feelings and experiences. The way I depicted his gritted teeth speaks of an internal struggle, a balance between his immense power and the discipline he’s chosen to uphold.I know Scott’s story and the challenges he faces. Through this painting, I wanted to go beyond just showing Cyclops’s power. I aimed to provide a glimpse into the mind of a hero who continually grapples with his nature while striving to fulfill a greater vision.
