Thunderstruck
In “Thunderstruck,” I aimed to encapsulate the exhilarating moment when Pikachu releases a potent Thunderbolt. I chose a nocturnal backdrop, with the sky illuminated by subdued tones of yellow and green, reflecting the energy emanating from Pikachu. This contrast between the background and the warm colors in the foreground was a deliberate choice to draw the viewer’s focus towards Pikachu, who is captured mid-air and is the centerpiece of the artwork.I have always been fascinated by Pikachu’s ability to generate electricity from its cheek pouches, and I wanted this painting to highlight that aspect of its character. The bright yellows and oranges of Pikachu’s fur, set against the more muted background, accentuate the strength and intensity of the Thunderbolt attack. The world of Pokémon is incredibly rich and has enthralled fans all over the globe for many years. Pikachu, in particular, has become a symbol of the franchise and is recognized worldwide. With “Thunderstruck,” I wanted to pay tribute to this cherished character and the vibrant energy it represents within the Pokémon universe.
