The ring along the bottom of the bird feeder allows several birds to dine at once while resisting squirrels. Recommendation: Hang the bird feeder 18" away from any surface to create a squirrel resistant bird feeder. Weight adjustable to help control unwanted heavier / larger birds. The patented seed ventilation system permits humidity and air to escape through the vents at the top of the feeder and replaces it with fresh air. The weight of a squirrel causes the feeding ports to be covered, which denies their access to the bird seed.
