Hot Cross Buns

Hot Cross Buns are the quintessential treat in the springtime, whether you celebrate Easter, or just love a well-made lightly sweet spiced bun. For those who are not in the know, they are traditionally a sweetened yeast bread flavored with cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice, studded with rum-soaked golden raisins (sultanas for those from across the pond) and currants, and then topped with the traditional cross. We are following in that well-loved tradition, with our own twist of course! Split the bun and lightly toast them for best results. Add a bit of butter, a cuppa tea or coffee, and you're all set.
