The active periods in Gamage's career as a problemist have been relatively brief. He composed his first problem in 1901 and withdrew from active chess in 1914. This early period was interrupted months and even years at a time, a feverish outburst of productivity around 1910 resulting in some of his best work, especially in the three-move field. In 1937 he took up composing afresh with new enthusiasm, under the guidance of Alain white and continued until his death.Condition:Some edge wear else a very good set of vintage problem history.Sold 2015
