The contestants were Andrei Volokitin, Boris Gelfand, Yannick Pelletier, Christian Bauer, Hikaru Nakamura and Magnus Carlsen. After seven rounds the US champion Hikaru Nakamura was in the lead, with 4.5 points, half a point more than Volokitin, Gelfand and Pelletier.
