They’re orderly, historic, business-as-usual places. And then there’s a pig on the roof. When pigs fly. The thing that isn’t supposed to happen has happened. A sign in the window says “no pigs,” like rules still matter. The narwhal coming up through the street is that feeling of “what is even going on anymore?” The world no longer making sense in the categories we were given. The sky feels ominous, alive, unsettled, but nothing stops. No one reacts. Life continues. The spikes on the roof and the gold barbed wire over the fence feel like fear turned into architecture. This painting is about living in a moment where the impossible is no longer shocking. It’s normal. And while we cling to conventional reactions, signs, and the illusion of agency, the impossible quietly and incrementally takes up more space. About the Artist: Rav
