Moldavite is a vitreous projectile glass. It's unique formation means that it is technically a tektite, which is a group of impact glasses formed by meteorite impacts! This gemsone was formed from the impact of a large meteorite in Germany 14.7 million years ago, with the molten material being thrown into the atmosphere and rapidly cooling to form the distinctive glass. Often a beautiful translucent olive color, the texture of this moldavite gemstone displays swirls, bubbles, and tiny craters. Each piece is completely unique and one of a kind.
