What defines you? Do you struggle with feelings of uncertainty about who you are? Do you wish you were more confident in your identity? Think about the different titles that characterize your sense of self: relational status, skills, work, etc. You might say, “I am a mother,” “I am an artist,” or “I am a restaurant hostess.” Looking deeper, you may even find “I am…” followed by negative beliefs: “I am a failure,” or “I am not worthy.” Identity must be rooted in the right thing. Knowing who you are shapes your character, values, and how you navigate the world, relationships, work, and every facet of life. An improper understanding of your identity can distort your worldview and lead you to behave contrary to the way you were designed.
