Tracks
Located about 100 miles east of Reno, Nevada, the town of Rochester remains a fraction of what it was in its heyday. Immigrants from Rochester, New York discovered gold here in the 1860’s. The railroad company built tracks to run ore from the upper canyon to the lower parts, and then off to other mills. The train was unreliable, and by 1917 was abandoned and many of the rails were ripped up. This image captures the desolation of the area, the will of the people and their imagination and enthusiasm for fortune.
