Obv: View of cathedral, GLOCESTER CATHEDRAL around, FIRST BUILT 1061 in exergue. Rev: Arms of Gloucester, crest a Cap of Maintenance, THE ARMS OF GLOUCESTER around, CITY TOKEN at sides of shield, and P. KEMPSON FECIT in small letters, 1797 below. Edge: Plain. Good Extremely Fine and bronzed. A few contact marks. Scarce. Penny. Built on the site of the former Abbey to St. Peter, the Glocester cathedral still stands today. Within its walls there is a monument to King Edward II, who was killed at nearby Berkeley Castle. The Three Choirs festival takes place here, the oldest annual music festival in the world.
