Obv: Turk’s head, PAYABLE AT CAMPBELLS SNUFF SHOP around. Rev: A snuff jar with 79 on center, 1795 below, SAINT ANDREWS STREET EDINBURGH. (around). Edge: Plain (not in collar). Uncirculated. Choice brown with tad red in legends. William Campbell and his wife Euphame operated a tobacco shop called The Turk’s Head in Edinburgh. Lusk notes in his book that of the six tobacconists in town in 1754, two were female.
