Moric Blaufränkisch, Burgenland 2022

Roland Velich is a man very much on his own path, fashioning Blaufränkisch of nuance and detail in a region where the fashion seems to very much an emphasis on power, structure and extraction. His entry-level wine issues from younger vines (although chez Velich, this means 10-50 years of age) in his two preferred districts of Lutzmannsburg and Neckenmarkt. It's a superb introduction to the Moric style, with lifted aromas and flavors of blue fruits, spice and black tea. Organic and biodynamic farming.
