Philadelphia Neoclassical sofa with exposed mahogany frame upholstered in silk with contrasting gimp and fitted with a leather seat cushion. The crest rail has a panel of branch crotch mahogany which is book matched across the length of the sofa back. The scrolled arms, lion’s paw legs with cornucopia carved bracket supports, and apron are all carved from solid Cubus mahogany, with branch crotch mahogany veneers. The sofa legs are fitted with original castors. The seat is fitted with matching leather seat cushion, and two silk covered bolsters, and two 22” square pillows. American, Philadelphia, circa 1830. Condition: The sofa has been reupholstered and fitted with new webbing, horse hair fill, custom bolsters, custom color matched leather cushion, contrasting silk gimp, and restored castors.
