Set of three oil on board landscapes (c. 1900-25)
Anonymous set of three American oil on board landscape studies. The first painting features a stand of trees across a meadow at golden hour, with the sun low in the sky in the background and casting warm orange light up into the treetops. The second composition is a view across a low, expansive valley rendered in warm greens and cool blues with a small stand of trees in the foreground. The third painting is of a meadow in the golden hour with a row of trees fading into the distance in the background, a small shrub in the lower right corner of the frame, and a warm golden streak of sunlight illuminating the meadow floor. The paintings share the same cohesive palette and the same expressive brushwork. All three works have been re-framed and archivally mounted under glass. American, circa 1900-1925.
