High density foam pads have a work surface of 4.5''x6" and a thickness is 1.5" thick. Foam pads are needed to protect your work surface from the sharp needles. Foam also helps to keep your needles from breaking when pressing into the wool. Needle felting pads take a lot of abuse and this foam holds up great.
