511. BERNARDO KASTRUP ON MATERIALISM, NON-DUALITY, AND THE FUTURE OF A GOOD LIFE
Neela Saxena (A Special Session via Zoom) A contemporary Dutch thinker, Bernardo Kastrup, has been creating quite a stir within the realm of Western philosophical ideas. A computer engineer with deep metaphysical insight, Kastrup critiques materialist thought and presents his analytical idealism in a new light, re-evaluating thinkers like Arthur Schopenhauer and Carl Jung. His vision imagines a future for humanity where a good life means flowing with the ebb and flow of Nature within a non-dual ontology. His notion about the primacy of our experiential states is resonant with Indian philosophies of consciousness. This course will introduce his ideas for a broader dialogue about how to escape the morass of the consumerist worldview. 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. 1 Session Thursday, November 13 Fee: $25
